Hello everyone of TSC and I'd like to welcome everyone for keeping this little community alive for all these years. So, here goes my intro...
I'm Lei Sarmiento, currently cinematographer/photographer (www.danielleistudio.com). Also, the same Lei mentioned here: thestorycircle.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rules&action=display&thread=213
I got to see David Copperfield live when I was in grade 3 (and that ignited my curiosity and passion that'll apparently burn for the remainder of my life.) I got into magic when I was in grade 5 or 6 when I remember still doing a mall routine of cups and balls to mostly family and relatives. A&L Magic was the sole resource for my magic needs/interests. I shortly dabbled into simple stage magic routines for the town fiesta, birthdays and wherever needed or wanted but I stopped magic when I entered high school where I simply maintained SWEs and other puzzle tricks to entertain.
Before Blaine, the Masked Magician went on TV and shamefully, that actually ignited my interest in magic and that's when I started collecting Daryl's Encyclopedia. I completed the set only when I got into college making my card journey taking a total of 3-4 years.
When I got a job, I got the means to feed the magic hobby. And with David Blaine paving the way, there were already lots of resources both online and on local shops (actually just Suzuki back then but they did have a lot of resource material).
TSC actually started as a thread from a blue-colored forum (hulaan nyo kung ano) where the magic hobby-ing members talked. Eventually, mamot (a former co-worker) and I talked about
creating our own forum and TSC was born (or so at that time) so it was essentially a spin-off.
Fast-forward and here we are.
I think I can do justice to being called a mentalist since I've done stints and shows professionally as one for a while. I was heavily influenced by Maven, Anneman, Duffie, Banachek and of course, Derren Brown. I just love the way people can't say "boy, you got fast hands" at mentalism effects and still astonish them.
With this intro, I'm looking forward to officially helping out again with TSC.
